History of the chair

The Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Culture is the main educational and scientific structural unit of the educational institution "Francisk Skorina Gomel State University", the disciplines of which students master during the entire period of study.

The main tasks of the department:
- organization and implementation at a high level of educational, scientific and methodological work for the academic disciplines assigned to the department;
- conducting educational work among students;
- organization and conduct of scientific research on the profile of the department;
- training of scientific, pedagogical and pedagogical personnel, improvement of their qualifications.

The department carries out its activities in accordance with the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Education, regulatory documents and guidelines of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Charter of the educational institution "Francisk Skorina Gomel State University", orders of the rector, Regulations on the department.
The staff of the department sees its promising tasks in the further improvement and optimization of the educational process and teaching of disciplines necessary for the training of high-class specialists in the field of physical culture and sports, in demand in the labor market, with modern professional knowledge, skills and abilities, active civic position and high morale. -moral qualities.
The department trains specialists in the specialty 1-03 02 01 - "Physical culture". The department is graduating in the following specializations: 1 - 03 02 01 03 "Physical culture and recreation and tourist and recreational activities" and 1 - 03 02 01 06 "Preschool physical education"; on specialization 1-03 02 01 05 "Fundamentals of medical physical culture" and 1-03 02 01 04 "Fundamentals of physical rehabilitation".
Currently, the department employs 16 full-time teachers. Of these, they have academic degrees: 1 doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor and 6 candidates of pedagogical sciences, associate professor. The education of teachers corresponds to the profile of the subjects taught.
The educational support staff of the department is staffed with two laboratory assistants with higher education in their specialty.
The department has postgraduate studies in the specialty 13.00.04 - "Theory and methods of physical education, sports training, health-improving and adaptive physical culture."
The content of the work of the department in all areas is reflected in the work plan of the department and the individual plans of teachers, which are approved in the prescribed manner.
